Successful initial run of the IPCRG RESPIRE Chronic Respiratory Disease MOOC
A University of Edinburgh Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRD) in Primary Care Settings was created at the end of 2020 on FutureLearn, led by IPCRG and in collaboration with RESPIRE Global Health Unit. The MOOC consists of five modules. The first five-week run from 1 February to 5 March 2021, drew 1300 enrolments from 90 different countries. The learners' level of engagement stayed consistent, and we received overwhelmingly positive feedback (4.7 of 5 stars).
Good course focusing on LMIC particularly. Featured very useful tools freely available to enable patient-centred management and also low-tech interventions applicable in any primary care setting. Highlighted important place of primary care throughout spectrum of management - health promotion, disease prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and palliative care
We plan to run the MOOC twice more: launching in May to coincide with World Asthma Day and our Conference and October, to coincide with World Lung Day 25 September. More information on the modules is available at: https://edin.ac/35uFwYC
