WHO and the Knowledge Action Portal

The IPCRG works closely with the NCD and global chronic respiratory disease team at the World Health Organization.  IPCRG represents primary care on the WHO-convened network Global Alliance against chronic Respiratory Disease (GARD).    WHO has set up a Knowledge Action Portal  where you can discover guidelines, reports and other knowledge resources curated by WHO's Global NCD Platform.  There is a specific GARD section.

IPCRG has submitted the following to the Knowledge Action Portal

Global Alliance against Respiratory Diseases (GARD)

  • IPCRG represents primary care on the GARD Steering Committee.

     
  • GARD is a global network convened by the World Health Organization.
     

  • Vision: A world where all people breathe freely

     
  • Goal: Reduce the global burden of chronic respiratory diseases, focusing on low- and middle-income countries, through
    • Undertaking advocacy efforts to raise awareness and build support for the prevention, diagnosis, and management of chronic respiratory diseases
    • Promoting networking for knowledge sharing
       
  • Members
    • GARD members are organizations actively engaged in the field of chronic respiratory diseases prevention and/or care, not individuals
    • Steering Committee members are representatives from global respiratory organizations representing patients and health care professionals
       
  • How to join:  Organizations that meet the WHO inclusion criteria escrption can apply following instructions here https://www.who.int/groups/global-alliance-against-chronic-respiratory-d...(gard) and will be admitted subject to WHO's due diligence process.
