The prevalence of respiratory diseases is high in Greece and there is evidence this has worsened since the introduction of austerity (measured as a result of limited access to health care).[1] It has one of the highest rates of tobacco use in the EU (38% of the population) and the highest rates of daily tobacco consumption. [2]
