Dr Nino Maglakelidze
Dr Nino Maglakelidze is a public health specialist who has worked in this field since 2004. She has been working on different positions in the leading public health institutions in Georgia dealing from Primary Health Care reform to health accounts and other emerging public health issues. Nino was holding a position as a Head of Tobacco Control Unit at the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) of Georgia from 2013 to 2019. In 2020-2022 She was a regional consultant at Secretariat of the WHO FCTC. Currently, Nino is a consultant for the WHO European Regional Office in the field of chronic respiratory diseases and an independent consultant in the field of tobacco control. Dr. Maglakelidze is a certified tobacco cessation specialist and an author of several research articles on tobacco control and respiratory health. Nino has a special interest in non-communicable diseases especially in its risk factors and social, economic and cultural determinants, and in the links between NCDs and the development agenda.
Dr Nino Maglakelidze holds an MD from Tbilisi State Medical University and is a Master of Science in International Health from Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
Dr Maglakelidze’s mother tongue is Georgian; she is a proficient user of English, Russian and French and independent user of German.
As part of the IPCRG Validation & Translation Group, Nino provides translation and validation services in Georgian for IPCRG.
