Primary care clinicians gain spirometry expertise with Spirometry Simplified Masterclass

The inaugural Spirometry Simplified masterclass took place in early May 2024 in Athens, Greece ahead of the 12th IPCRG World Conference

Spirometry Simplified, a leading initiative by IPCRG, seeks to empower primary care clinicians worldwide by promoting the widespread and equitable adoption of spirometry. This practical masterclass, developed for primary care professionals, followed the first part of Spirometry Simplified which was delivered through four online modules. The inaugural cohort included 25 students from Greece, India, Portugal, Bangladesh, the UK and Sweden.

The masterclass was prepared and facilitated by an experienced team of experts in spirometry and spirometry teaching: Sundeep Salvi, Ioanna Tsiligianni, Lindsay Zurba, Jim Stout, Kerry Hancock, and Juan Enrique Cimas.

Both faculty and learners participated enthusiastically, working in groups to master all the necessary steps for conducting high-quality tests and effectively interpreting results.

This pilot edition is currently being evaluated, but given the significant interest expressed in developing subsequent editions, IPCRG has begun working towards expanding this certified educational offering.
