Questionnaires to measure asthma control in children aged 6-18 years in a primary care population: a systematic review.

Aim: In this review we summarize the questionnaires that are used to measure asthma control in children in primary care aim to determine their usefulness in asthma management by comparing their measurement characteristics.Method: A systematic literature search was conducted in the MEDLINE, Embase, Web of science, Google scholar and Cochrane databases. Randomized controlled trials, cross-sectional studies, prospective cohort studies and case-control studies were included. Study population included children aged 6-18 years with a doctors diagnosis of asthma. Studies conducted in primary care or a primary care population were included when a minimum of two different questionnaires were described or compared. Title/abstract-, and full text-screening was performed independently by three reviewers. The methodological quality was assessed using standardized checklists. Results : The search strategy yielded 4768 citations. Five publications were included in current review. Results will be available in April 2020. Conclusion: Several questionnaires to measure asthma control in children are used worldwide. Unfortunately, no golden standard exists. This review aims to determine their usefulness in pediatric asthma management in primary care.
